Poached mulled wine pears | Christmas | Vegan-Gluten free

Hello my lovelies! For part 4 of 4 weeks of Christmas I wanted to share my take on poached pears. Last year I made home made mulled wine and it honestly turned out so wonderful and I wanted those beautiful flavours in a dessert and what better way to implement it but poaching pears in the mulled wine. I will link the recipe for my home made mulled wine below but if you don't have the time to make your own simply use one of your favourite mulled wines instead. This does require sitting over night so make sure you have the time to spend. Let's bring the Christmas out in dessert.



Serves 4 people.


What you need for poached pears:


4 pears

1 bottle of mulled wine

2 cinnamon sticks

1 tsp whole cardamom

1/2 tbsp whole cloves

1 star anis


What you need for mascarpone cream:


1 dl (0.4 cups) vegan whipped cream

1/2 dl (0.2 cups) icing sugar

225g vegan cream cheese

Juice from half a lemon


Begin with peeling the pears and place them in a pot. Pour in the mulled wine the pears should be completely submerged. Add the seasoning and bring to a boil on medium heat and allow to cook for 40-50 minutes and allow to cool completely.


Place the pot in the fridge and allow the pears to sit over night.


Before serving let's make our mascarpone cream, in a bowl add the whipped cream, cream cheese, icing sugar and lemon juice. Give it a whisk until it looks smooth.


Slice the pears at the bottom it helps keep the pear standing up steady and scoop a dollop of cream on a plate and pour some of the mulled wine on the pear.

Now it's ready to enjoy!
